Dion Staring Wiki

Dion Staring is a Dutch fighter competing in the Light Heavyweight and Heavyweight divisions. He has fought for promotions primarily in Europe and Asia including Shooto, KSW and Jungle Fight. With a career that has spanned nearly thirteen years, although the majority of his fights have been since 2004, his most notable win is against TUF 14 alum, Akira Corassani. He has also fought UFC veterans Denis Stojnic and Antonio Rogerio Nogeuira.

Staring trains with Golden Glory in the Netherlands. He recently made a move to train with the Blackzillians in Boca Raton, Florida along with long time training partner, Alistair Overeem. Daniel Cormier was his next opponent when Staring made his US debut at Strikeforce's final event. Staring was clearly outmatched but was able to make it to the second round before surcumbing to strikes and losing by TKO.

Dion would again fight in the US less than two months later when he took on James McSweeney in the main event of CFA 10. He would again be put down by strikes just 38 seconds ito the first round. He fought in Russia as the main event of ProFC 50 when he took on Alexey Oleinik, but he would be submitted in the first round.
