Wiki

DaMarques Johnson Wiki

Something of a journeyman prior to his debut in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, DaMarques Johnson has reinvented himself since making it to the finals of The Ultimate Fighter 9 in 2009, winning two fights in a row via a Submission of the Night and a Knockout of the Night after losing in the finals to British fighter James Wilks. Johnson is a known finisher, having gone to decision only a handful of times throughout his career, and looks reinvigorated upon his arrival at the highest level of professional competition.

In addition to his MMA career, Johnson was also a member of the U.S. Army and National Guard. He was introduced to Jiu-Jitsu in the military and started training for mixed martial arts competition after meeting veteran UFC fighter Jeremy Horn.

Damarques had an up and down career for the UFC holding wins over Edgar Garcia, Brad Blackburn, Michael Guymon and Clay Harvison but losing to some of the tougher competition like Matt Riddle, Amir Sadollah and Mike Swick. Following a three fight losing streak Johnson was cut from the UFC.
